New Year’s resolutions are notoriously difficult to keep, is there any way to actually keep them for the entire year?
Magical, one-step ways to keep New Year’s resolutions for the entire year do not exist. If you truly want to better yourself, you are going to have to work hard at it and fight–with all your might–the little voice inside your head whispering, “You can’t do it.”
If you are still reading, it means you are genuinely willing to work on yourself in order to achieve your New Year’s resolutions! And that’s great! We’re here to help. Here are a few tips on how you can keep your New Year’s resolutions for the entire year.
- Be Specific – Instead of saying “I want to lose weight.” Be more specific on the amount of weight you want to lose. If you have a goal that you can see at the end of the tunnel, you are more inclined to chase it.
- Break It Up – Rather than trying to lose all of your weight at once, remember that you have 12 months; 52 weeks; 365 days! (366 on a leap year). Use these measurements of time to break your resolution into smaller goals that you can reach. Before you know it, you will have accomplished your goal.
- Keep the Number Low – Setting 10 or 12 resolutions is simply too much. You will defect to, “Well, if I do a majority of them, it will be a good year,” which actually means you are going to fail on all of them.
