The holidays are right around the corner, do you know how to remain in the holiday spirit despite holiday traffic during your road trip?
The holidays are a great time to spend with your friends and family. A road trip is supposed to be a fun experience for all involved, but that can quickly go out the window during the holiday season. The roads are flooded with cars and road rage takes over the mind of the driver. If you want a stress-free road trip during the Holiday season, here are some useful Holiday road trip tips.
Holiday Road Trip Tips
- Plan your departure ahead of time. The majority of people will leave on Wednesday, meaning you have to plan around that day. If your drive is a short one and can be done within a few hours, it’s a good idea to leave on the day of your holiday. If your trip will require long hours, or even days, consider leaving on Monday or Tuesday to get a head start on holiday traffic.
- Take frequent breaks. Driving is a mentally exhausting activity that we will unfortunately have to do until self-driving cars (inevitably) become the standard. Every 3 to 4 hours–depending on how you feel–pull over at a gas station and stretch your legs and walk around a bit. This should also be the time you switch drivers.
- Bring a good book. For those road trips that will last many hours or even days, a good book is a great way to pass the time and finally finish that book you’ve been meaning to get to and read for months.
