St. Patrick's Day Fun Facts

St. Patrick’s Day in the U.S. has turned away from tradition, but perhaps it is a good idea to remember why we all celebrate this most Irish of holidays.

St. Patrick’s Day is upon us! Before you go out and celebrate with your friends to the point of unconscious stupor, read these facts to surprise your friends and even save your life.

  1. ACTUALLY, WE SHOULD WEAR BLUE
The color green was only associated with St. Patrick’s Day after the color was linked with Irish independence in the late 18th century. Saint Patrick himself always wore a light shade of blue.
  2. IT USED TO BE A SOBER HOLIDAY
This day was considered to be a deeply religious holiday in Ireland, and that meant that the nation’s stores and pubs were closed on March 17. It wasn’t until 1970 that it became a national holiday, and the pints started pouring.
  3. SHAMROCKS SERVE A PURPOSE
According to Irish legend, Patrick used a three-leafed plant as a symbol to represent the Holy Trinity when he first introduced Christianity to Ireland.
  4. SAINT PATRICK WAS NOT IRISH
Patrick was actually born to Roman parents in either Wales or Scotland (the records are fuzzy). He made his mark by introducing Christianity to Ireland in the over 1580 years ago in the year 432.
  5. RIDE SHARING SERVICES ARE ALWAYS AVAILABLE
If you are planning on drinking, do not drive under any circumstance. Ride-sharing services take you where you need to go for less than the price of a cab.

  • “When we want develop partnerships with vendors, the deciding factor is always based on a single question…Do they pick up their phone? At Risk Management, they pick up their phone. In the indoor trampoline park industry, we have dealt with several insurance agencies that were always more concerned about their commission, not building a business relationship or serving our needs. On more than one occasion, Risk Management has stepped in and helped us with carrier/policies issues that the incumbent agencies had dropped the ball on. There was no financial reward for Risk Management in these situations, they see a problem and help fix it. They just do business the right way. Steve Young and his team at Risk Management represent us, not the carrier. We highly recommend Risk Management.”
