How to Handle Getting a Ticket

When you get a ticket, know what to do.

Perhaps it has just been one of those days! You nudge past the speed limit to make the green light, and suddenly you see the blazing lights and blaring sirens in your rearview mirror. Instantly, you’ve landed yourself a speeding ticket.

If the situation is handled incorrectly, you can be faced with strikes on your driving record or increased auto insurance premiums.

For steps on how to deal with a speeding ticket, read on!

  • Pay the Fine
This puts the whole incident behind you, and with that, admits that you are guilty. This conviction may show up as points on your Motor Vehicle Report which typically raises your insurance.
  • Attend Traffic School
Depending on the fine, you may be able to attend school in exchange for erasing the ticket from your record and points from your license.
  • Contest the Ticket in Court
This is definitely the long-winded route, but you can challenge the ticket to prove your innocence. You could walk away with a reduced fine or even a dropped charge.

Although there is no upside to a traffic ticket, you can work with your insurance company to maintain an affordable auto insurance premium. Contact Risk Management LLC for the insurance that you need for every turn in the road!

  • “When we want develop partnerships with vendors, the deciding factor is always based on a single question…Do they pick up their phone? At Risk Management, they pick up their phone. In the indoor trampoline park industry, we have dealt with several insurance agencies that were always more concerned about their commission, not building a business relationship or serving our needs. On more than one occasion, Risk Management has stepped in and helped us with carrier/policies issues that the incumbent agencies had dropped the ball on. There was no financial reward for Risk Management in these situations, they see a problem and help fix it. They just do business the right way. Steve Young and his team at Risk Management represent us, not the carrier. We highly recommend Risk Management.”
