Keep local kids safe as they head back to school with these driving tips.
Whether you like it or not, summer is ending. That means that all the kids in your area are getting to head back to school and will be on their way, either on foot, in a car, or on the bus.
You can do your part to protect them if you use these safe driving tips for the back to school season!
- Look Twice: Kids are smaller than adults (obviously), so they can be harder to spot at a crosswalk. Double-check before you zip through a crosswalk to make sure you protect these smaller humans.
- Read Closely: Around school zones, it’s not uncommon for speed limits to change during different times of day. Slow down and read the signage. In fact, in school zones it’s a good idea to slow down in general.
- Yellow Means Slow, Red Means Stop: If you see a big yellow school bus, slow down. If its overhead lights flash red, come to a complete stop. Those lights mean its loading or unloading kids, and you legally need to wait until the lights turn off to continue.
